Alien Mercenaries Season 2: Episode 26 starts right NOW

Hey guys, sorry for the delay again (I really need to try & set up a steady schedule for Alien Mercenaries), here's Episode #26 of Alien Mercenaries Season 2. I hope it was worth the wait, as it proves to be a cool one with some new things to look at.

Haven't shot anymore episodes yet, but plan on it once I A) have more free time & B) all 2 feet of snow melts away from my set (accursed random snow-storms!). Until then, I'll be posting more pics of new creations I've made, as well as misc. other things to fill the time between episodes. Take care gang!

New inhabitants from the planet Holi'daz: the Ecks'mss Region!

Back in late August, I'd gotten my newest order of Glyos stuff, and set to building some new guys with the parts at my disposal. The Halso Buildman I got (I'd have preferred to have bought two, but that extra $8 went towards an Armodoc which was very much worth the purchase) immediately went towords making this new race from the planet Holi'daz. As I didn't want him to be without troops, and had just gotten a bunch of white Buildmen Genedrones, I gave him two troops. So, from the Ecks'mss region on the planet Holi'daz, come a Treeza Commander with two Snw'mnn troopers:

Treeza ('Tree-zah'): "The Treeza are plant like beings whose heads bare a slight resemblance to pine trees. They are typically of very solid builds and stand a foot or so taller then the average individual. Functioning as the leaders & center-pieces in many Ecks'mss armies, so you'll see at least 1 per unit directing the troops in their command. They live for centuries, are immune to the damaging effects of cold weather, possess incredible strength & are very hard to kill. During large battles with their ancient rivals, the Jkk'Olurntrns from the Hallow'Een region, a treeza commander will often be the only survivor to their regiment, fighting until the end. Weapon preferences are large blunt weapons such as clubs or morning-stars, or even just their bare fists. Seeing a Treeza wading through a wave of enemy troops, tossing them around like rag-dolls is not entirely an uncommon sight. "

Snoo'mn ('Snew-men'): "As every army needs crazy, easily created/expendable troops, the Ecks'mss region has the Snw'mn. These beings are snow given sentience & possess great physical strength & resistance to damage. While in cold/arctic regions, they can re-form themselves after seemingly being destroyed to continue fighting. They are able to survive in more temperate/warmer climates, but if killed there, they'll truly be dead. They usually travel in teams of 2 or 4 & never speak, communicating with each other through facial expressions & hand gestures. Their silence on the battle field often sends chills through enemy warriors, who can never be sure exactly what their battle plan is. The only race they tend to fear, are the Bunn'e warriors from the Eas'tarr region who have a penchant for eating their carrot noses. "

"Ah've been fightin' them Ecks'mss guys fer years now, and everytime I run into the battlefield those Snow-heads still freak me right the shnoop out....and I come from one of the scariest regions on all of Holi'daz!"- Slack Jaw, Jkk'Olurntrn soldier for the Hallow'Een region

Their looks have changed slightly since I took this picture back in August, and the Treeza Commander actually has some red parts now & a red cloak (I'll post pictures of that in this post once I'm home & can take pictures of them). Currently there are only these 2 races in the Ecks'mss region, but more will probably be "discovered" (i.e. created & added by me) at some future time.

I like toys that are fun, and wackiness is always fun if done right. ^_^

Alien Mercenaries Season 2: Episode 25 is here!

Hey gang, so sorry for the delay inbetween episodes 24 and 25. I kept trying to go outside to do a photo shoot but each time I had a day off, AND time to go outside, it was raining like crazy. OR it had rained like crazy the night before and everything outside was soaked. This past Tuesday I had a free 3 hours and managed to shoot episodes 25 & 26 (so expect 26 sometime this week most likely), with hopefully 27 and 28 getting shot today as the weather is nice again.

This being the 25th episode of Alien Mercenaries is an important milestone for me, as this photo-comic is the LONGEST run photo-comic I've ever made. I actually made several photo-comics over the years, but never really showed them to anyone aside from a few friends. Back then, if I made 2 episodes consecutively it was an accomplishment, so seeing 25 of them done is mind-blowing to me. Thanks again to everyone who's been reading it for all this time and I can't wait to see how I've taken the story by the time we're at episode 50!

So, without further time-wasting, read on true believers and I hope you enjoy it!

Okay, so this episode was a bit of a change for the strip & I'll tell you what happened to bump it 3 months into the future:

Back in July, I shot the 4-part season finale and episode 24 all at the same time. After that task was completed, I was exhausted mentally and took a break for the remainder of the summer & put out the Monstrokk Hunters mini-series as a way to fill the gap from July to September. With moving my fiancee back up from Florida, finding and then moving into our first apartment, bad weather AND working didn't give me much free time to shoot more episodes of season 2.

So, as time marched forward, my parent's backyard (the set that Alien Mercenaries takes place in...although you might not ever know it from their perspective) changed a bit. The landing site where the Alien Mercenaries first landed had become largely over-grown and everytime I looked at the first/second episodes and looked at that patch of land it amazed me what could change in a few months. So, now that things looked so different I started thinking of how to get the next season to make sense...so I decided to fast-forward time a bit.

With three months past, SO much has changed in the lives of the Alien Mercenaries. Greh'eck, Gr'owwgle and the little yellow creature (whose name will be revealed soon, stay tuned..) have tried a few dozen times to get into the P.M.P., but often met with failure. Greh'eck has had the shnoop kicked outta him, as is evident by the damage done to his face (heck, I think he even has 1 or 2 chipped/broken teeth now). In addition to this, he's now the de-fault "leader" of the AM's and that's not a responsibility he wants in the slightest. So, as it's been forced upon him he's growing more and more frustrated with how his plans keep going wrong and nothing seems to be going right for them. They're alive as Men'tohst doesn't view them as a viable threat, but hurting bad. These next few episodes are going to be interesting as we see more and more what has changed in the time that's passed.

Stay tuned to the forums and this blog for when episode 26 goes up, as it should be a cool one (especially the ending). ;-)

Something from the Bah'glenn Vault: the Glomporr creature!

I've been sculpting stuff for about a little over a year, almost close to two, and I keep forgetting about alot of my earlier projects. This one, for example, was made waaaaay back in early April of this year and I just never got around to posting pictures of it anywhere. Now that I have my blog set up, I figure here is as good a place as any to show it.

Creature Name: Glomporr ("Glomp-Ore")
Diet: Meat
Known Information: "Glomporrs are large beasts that make their homes in both dry arid locations or in swamps. They are solitary beasts, coming together only to mate and raise offspring every spring. A glomporr hunts by burying itself under sand/mud. When prey walk past, vibrations trigger the glomporr and it strikes quickly with the posionous stinger on it's tail. The stinger injects a powerful paralyzing poison that stuns the prey allowing the glomporr to eat it without a struggle. It's vicious claws can tare through even the thickest armor and it's jaws can crush bones as if they where stale bread. Glomporrs are fairly stubborn beasts however and often don't back down from a potential meal, even if outnumbered. Their thick skin provides some protection but often not enough to warrant staying to fight. The beasts crawl around on their two massive limbs, dragging their bodies through the terrain to get from place to place. Very slow, they rely on their strength, thick hide and poisons to protect themselves. Many beings across the universe use glomporrs as 'pit beasts' to devour any intruders onto their property. It is rumored that the Prutarran High Council keeps a glomporr in their main building as a deterent to intruders, but it has never been confirmed or denied by the council."

I sculpted the body using Super Sculpey, and then used colored sculpey for the teeth, claws, eyes ang tongue (I ran out of white sculpey before I made the tip for the tail, hence why its the same color as the rest of the body). I figured, if done this way, it looks like the animal is supposed to be colored this way and I wouldn't have to paint it. I'm always hesitent to paint my stuff, as I'm not sure if doing so will mess it up or not. One of these days I'll have to get around to trying that though. It's mouth IS articulated as I slipped a cut sprue from a model kit in to act as a pin. Works great, especially for eating glyos guys heh heh heh.

Two new Customs made for my Fiancee

While hanging out in our new apartment with some friends a thought of silver & gold head sculpts popped into my mind. I busted out my sculpting stuff right there and over the course of the evening made two new heads for my fiancee Beth. I didn't know what I wanted them to look like exactly, so these were works in progress throughout the night. They came out pretty good, I've since re-worked Syl'virr's shoulders though, so I'll post an updated pic of him later on.

Names: Gohld & Syl'virr ("Gold" & "Sil-Vur")
Bio: "When a Metahlon is born, it buds off of an adult metahlon and becomes a second being. Gohld & Syl'virr changed the norm by both being born at the same time and from the same parent. Unfortuneatly, their birth resulted in the death of the adult metahlon, but made the two of them unique among their race. The other metahlons then viewed them as outcasts and they were banished from their homeworld. Since then, they explore the spaceways in their ship, the Conundrum, trying to help those in need. Gohld possesses an enhanced intellect, one that rivals some of the smartest minds on any of the known worlds and Syl'virr's strength is almost without limit. When approaching any problem or obstacle, Gohld thinks things through to come to the most logical conclusion where as Syl'virr just charges in head first. Gohld is also a bit more reserved when speaking with others unless about a familiar/enjoyable topic. Syl'virr, on the other hand, has the subtlety of a neon brick and just prefers to be blunt and to the point. This way of thinking, combined with immense physical strength, makes most beings unable to deter Syl'virr from completing a task. Despite their opposite tendencies, they do get along for the most part as they are essentially two halves of one being. As for other abilities, both possess excellent night vision and the glow of their eyes often unnerves allies & enemies alike. Gohld also possesses a low-form of telekinesis that can be strengthened with practice, and Syl'virr can absorb energy from the environment to add more power to physical attacks.

(Notes on the Metahlon ("Meh-taal-on") Race- Reproduction is achieved through budding, so most metahlons are not technically male or female; they all look rather un-belonging to either gender. Each metahlon will birth offspring once a year and always one "child" at a time; seeing twins born had never happened before Gohld & Syl'virr's birth. Their bodies are composed of a living metal-like material that is very resistant to damage, but not indestructible. Also, dispite their lack of visable mouths/ears they CAN speak and hear perfectly well. For nurishment, they absorb light and often stand around in groups to feed when the sun is at it's highest point of the day.)"

Alien Mercenaries Season 2 starts NOW!! O_O!!

The wait is over, September is upon us and that means Alien Mercenaries Season 2 is all set to kick off the "new fall season".

Okay, real quick a note on the episode numbering from here on out: the episodes numbers will continue from Season 1 (i.e. the 1st episode of Season 2 is episode #24) but have the "Season 2" blurb before them to let people know what season it's a part of.

So, without further ado, here's episode #24 "Hard Landing"!

Expect Episode #25 sometime this month, as I'm currently looking for an apartment for my fiancee & I so my time to do photo shoots will be limited. I wanted to stick to my promise of having season 2 start in Septemeber so I buckled down last night & cranked these 15 panels out. I hope everyone enjoyed it & trust me the rest of Season 2 will only be getting better. Take care gang!
